Beginning on Wednesday, March 25, Coastal Diagnostic Imaging will be open from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.


We are making every effort to comply with public health and CDC guidelines, which include limiting patient exposure for non-essential services. Please only send patients for urgent imaging services until further notice.


In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, we are working to continue providing exceptional care and in doing so may need to reschedule some non-emergent or non-critical procedures and appointments.

All scheduled patients will be screened during appointment confirmation calls.
All scheduled patients will also be screened at their time of check-in.
Please call to reschedule your appointment if you have a cough, fever and/or shortness of breath or if you have been in close contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
No walk-in patients.
No visitor or companion may come in the center.
Caregivers may assist patients entering the center and then leave during the exam.

      Coastal Diagnostic Imaging is conveniently located at 3606 Henderson Drive (Extension) in Jacksonville, NC. We are proud to provide outpatient MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and X-Ray services. We are also the only facility in Coastal NC that has a True Open MRI. This means it is open on both sides and there is no “tunnel” as with traditional MRI machines (see the first photo on the bottom row in our Center Gallery). It is ideal for claustrophobic and larger sized patients.

      We are the area’s affordable choice. We accept all insurances, Care Credit, have self-pay rates, offer payment plans, and are a preferred Tricare provider. And, because we global bill for our services, patients only receive one bill from us that includes the charge for the service and the radiologist reading. On average, our cost is 40-60% less than that of hospital based imaging services.

      We offer same day appointments and walk-in exams for some studies. Our Board-certified radiologists and registered technologists are eager to deliver the best in quality service and patient care. We provide access to online images to referring physicians and also give films on disc for surgical needs.

Many of our radiologists are fellowship trained in specialty areas, including breast imaging, cardiovascular imaging, computed tomography (CT), interventional radiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), musculoskeletal, neuroradiology, neurointerventional, nuclear medicine and pediatric radiology. North Carolina Diagnostic Imaging’s skilled and experienced radiologists offer patients and referring physicians the best in medical imaging.

      I had an appointment here on October 15th at 10:15 for an MRI with and without contrast. I was so nervous, never having this before and having all kinds of health concerns I can’t thank the staff and technicians enough. They were amazing. I was so panicked and the tech just spoke to me during the procedure, I wouldn’t have made it through if it wasn’t for her. Thank you all.

      My Dr ordered an MRI and I got an appointment within a day. I was asked what time I would prefer and the day I was able to be there. I was also quoted my deductible I had to pay. When I asked if I could pay half the receptionist was very nice and allowed me to do so. Everyone that I had contact with was very nice and extremely professional. I need to finish paying the rest of my bill and will do that soon. Thank you for working with me.

      Awesome service. They were able to fit me in the day after my doctor requested two tests be done. A third test had to be added while i was there and they fit that in as well. The techs were great as they explained what they were doing accurately which helped me relax a bit. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to others.

      For a walk in place, you get seen pretty quick, the staff is super nice. They offer free Wi-Fi as well as a kiddie corner and complimentary coffee. Usually fresh if not they remake it if you ask nicely.

      Worst experience ever today! Was very disappointed in the service. I had a 2:00 appt for an MRI and arrived early as they asked to fill out paperwork and didn't get seen u till 3. I sat for almost and hour and a half waiting for a 15 min. MRI. I understand things happen and offices may get behind but at least have the courtesy to call and let the person know so they can come in later or reschedule for another time. Instead I sat there for 30 minutes and then went up to front desk to ask because I had another appt at 3 and wanted to make sure I was going to get out on time and then they finally told me they were running late. Everyone's time is valuable and should be respected. The ladies at front desk didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Just made me so angry that my time is not precious at all. Also another person came in late for there appt and they still saw her. I feel if someone is running that late they should have to wait or reschedule so someone who is on time isn't sitting and waiting. Very poor customer service.
